I’m April Michelle Vargas, a Christian writer, reader, wife, and mama of three with a particular weakness for historical settings, complicated characters, sweeping stories, and books that stay with you long after you’ve closed them.
Here you’ll find Christian fiction and nonfiction reviews, reading lists, recommendations, and thoughts on the stories that make us laugh, cry, think, and occasionally wonder why a fictional character has somehow become a personal problem.
I’m also an aspiring author, slowly making my way from reading other people’s stories to writing a few of my own.
But books, as much as I love them, have their proper place.

I’m April Michelle Vargas. Christian, wife, mama of three, avid reader, and aspiring author.
I’ve always been drawn to stories about faith, family, loss, redemption, complicated people, and the choices that shape a life. I especially love historical settings, sweeping stories, and characters who feel just real enough to make me argue with them.
I read a lot. I write a little. And I’m working toward writing a lot more.
But as much as I love good stories, I don’t believe every good book deserves the place that belongs to Scripture.
